Solar Water, Rainwater Harvesting, and the House is Getting Stoned!

March 2009: The solar water heater is now hooked up. It was tested and everything is flowing correctly.
The underground rainwater harvesting system is being installed. Here you can see where the system will connect to the gutters. Connection points like this are at most corners of the house.
Here you can see the underground cistern that will hold all the rainwater. It's actually a 1000-gallon septic tank. We were told that a two-inch rainfall will probably fill up the tank, so an overflow and eco-friendly rainwater disbursement system will also be a part of the landscaping.
The house is finally getting stoned! It will take about a week to put all of the stonework on the seven columns around the house, the front porch facing, the chimney, the fireplace, and the stone oven.

Water harvesting seems to be nice idea against water shortage. But are these water harvesting systems are affordable enough to fits in everyone's budget and what about their maintainable issues (changing Rainwater filters).
